Summary

To sustainably increase Peruvian spice productivity and trade under the new cost-effective PENS model in target areas, NCBA CLUSA will provide high impact innovations and models tested and developed in Peru (cacao and coffee), Indonesia, Timor Leste and Madagascar (spices), El Salvador (coffee and horticulture) and the Dominican Republic (dairy, beef and SPS). By working closely with private sector partners and the government, PENS will incentivize market demand-driven opportunities and employ agroforestry and other climate-friendly systems to build the resilience capacities of farmers, including women, youth, and indigenous communities, and other market actors at key intervention points

Project Objectives

Main goals include increasing the productivity and efficiency of the ginger, turmeric, and oregano value chains in Peru and improving and expanding the trade of these spices.
