Summary
The project focuses on the Establishment of long term sustainable cooperation at local, regional and national level between CSOs in Turkey and their European counterparts on areas within the scope of the EU aquis and policies. In particular, ToBeCoop focuses mainly on supporting CSOs’ relations and sharing of knowledge on the subject of the Chapter 20 of the EU-Turkey negotiations (Enterprise and industrial policy). In this framework, the Action will be coherent with the National Action Plan for EU accession (2016-2019), that - referring to the Chapter 20 - states that the first priority is the strengthening and restructuring of the cooperative enterprise model, for a transition to a structure in which cooperatives are qualified as productive, efficient and sustainable economic entrepreneurial initiatives in line with the EU practices.
Project Objectives
The project contributes to develop a sustainable dialogue between a specific typology of CSOs in Turkey and EU, the cooperatives. A typology of CSO that is able that gather around 6.5 million members in Turkey and 12 million members in Italy, representing a key element of the economies and a pillar of the social capital of the communities. In particular, ToBeCoop contributes to the first specific objective of the Call for proposal to “Increase bilateral exchanges and cooperation between Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Turkey and in EU at local, regional and national level.” In fact, ToBeCoop boosts a dialogue between the Italian cooperative movement and the cooperatives of a Turkish Province (Rize) in order to share knowledge and methodologies for Strengthening the cross-sector local organizations of the Turkish cooperative movement as actors of the local development, integrated in the EU cooperative movement-
