Summary

This project emerged from the needs of one of the most innovative CSOs in Turkey: the new-born cooperatives active in innovative sector, they so called New Generation Cooperatives (NGC). Since 2012 the number of cooperatives in innovative sectors increased at exponential rates, with remarkable success in terms of the impact on the life of their members. However, the development of cooperatives in Turkey increased numerically, but failed to build a strong cooperative structure and understanding, so that an important sector of the society is nowadays excluded from the participation to the dialogue for the decision making, due to normative and practical constraints mentioned below.

Project Objectives

The project aims to contribute to improve the number and the quality of CSOs able to participate in the democratic participation and decision-making processes. The Specific Objective is to empower the structure and networking capacities of the New Generation Cooperatives as new CSOs participating in decision-making processes.

Impact on SDGs

SDG17 - Partnership for The Goals

Main Indicators

A number of 2 indicators defined to measure the impact of the overall objective: the N° of NGCs consulted for the Turkey Voluntary National Report on SDGs 2030 implementation, the N° of NGCs that contributed for inputs for laws or Ministry decrees through their network or through National Cooperative Union of Turkey.
