Summary

This project is located in the dry savannah area in the north of Togo (8,470 km2 - 830,000 inhabitants). More than 90% of the population lives below the poverty line. The main activity is subistence agriculture (agriculture de subsistence). The UCMECS unites 8 savings and credit cooperatives, has 38.000 clients of which 56% women. In 2019, BRS provided intensive further guidance to improve the credit processes and operation with customers/members on the basis of segmentation. The project ended in 2021.

Project Objectives

Strengthening the savings and loan operations of UCMECS for farmer groups in northern Togo in collaboration with Louvain Coopération au Développement. Specialized workshops. Support with strategy development and marketing. Revision of credit portfolio en credit process Product development and marketing Screening and optimization of customer database
