The strategy of the WAKLIIK project revolves around two main results. 1) Increase in decent job opportunities for Q'eqchi' women and young people through agricultural entrepreneurship within the family economic unit by promoting access in the family plot to their own production unit linked to promising sectors organic cardamom and turmeric. 280 hectares of land under organic and agroforestry management will be established. Various innovative training programs will support the integration of women and young people into these new value chains, including the field school program which will combine agro-environmental considerations and adaptation to climate change, as well as awareness-raising on gender equality women and men and positive masculinity behaviors. 2) Strengthening the innovative, clean and sustainable business practices of cooperatives affiliated with FEDECOVERA, in order to position products in niche markets using organic and fair trade certifications. The strengthening of governance structures will be at the center of the initiative, with the aim of achieving equitable representation of women and young people in the decision-making structures of cooperatives and FEDECOVERA.
