Summary

FAÉD is a joint initiative of SOCODEVI and Viridis Terra Innovation Inc., implemented over seven years in Burkina Faso’s Sahel Region. The project works in the provinces of Séno and Oudalan, specifically in the municipalities of Dori, Gorom-Gorom and Falangountou, to conserve, enhance and promote the inclusive management of natural resources in order to strengthen the resilience of women and youth living in vulnerable situations in the face of climate change and multiple crises. In 2025, despite a difficult security and logistics context, the project maintained strong implementation momentum, restoring 446 hectares through Nature-based Solutions, validating six restoration and natural resource management plans, supporting the formalization of 10 municipal cooperative unions, and promoting inclusive governance, gender equality, social cohesion, and access to climate-adapted services and technologies.

Project Objectives

The overall objective of the project is to increase the climate resilience of women, youth and their communities in situations of vulnerability in Burkina Faso’s Sahel Region. More specifically, the project aims to: (1) sustainably increase biodiversity and ecosystem connectivity in strategic landscapes; (2) strengthen the effectiveness of producer organizations and cooperatives to develop climate-adapted business models with and for women and youth; and (3) increase the engagement of duty bearers and rights holders in support of inclusive, equitable natural resource governance that respects the rights of women and youth.
