Project Objectives

Sobakantha comes under the consortium project which 5 organizations work together to achieve a common goal. The project implements with Sobakantha since 2018 in Dondra Divisional Secretariat in Matara district, Sri Lanka. This project contributes to the five areas of the country programme: Organisational development, Sustainable agriculture, Business development & financial inclusion, Gender equality promotion and Social Inclusion & reconciliation. Project objective:Empowering the fisheries families with women under mobilizing, modern technology gender and Cooperative theory sustainable 2018 to 2022. The intervention targets to empower marginalized and vulnerable women in fishing community.The project is expected to improve the living conditions of 200 marginalized & vulnerable women and men in fishing families while enhancing the women empowerment, women entrepreneurship development, increase access to financial resources, increase the income of the targeted community at the end of five years. The expected long-term impact of the approach is to achieve the sustainable socio-economic development of poor and marginalized fishing women with equal rights.
