Summary
PROMAVI is a sustainable development initiative whose ultimate objective was to contribute to improving the living conditions of women, men and children living in a disadvantaged rural environment in the department of Chuquisaca. Because of its multisectoral nature, PROMAVI's implementation strategy is based on a highly participatory approach that includes innovative methodologies aimed at generating change among key local stakeholders. Family businesses were invited to diversify their agricultural production through the planting of the tara tree. They were also sensitized on best practices in the areas of health, nutrition, safe water, hygiene and sanitation. These issues formed the basis for governance support to 14 municipal governments.
