Project Objectives

DAZ promotes and protects the interest of members in their capacity as dairy farmers, dairy processors, purveyors and others involved in the business of dairy industry: and to help develop the Zambian dairy industry for both domestic and export demand. Specific objectives are a) to increase dairy production and productivity for the formal market, b) to promote domestic consumption of milk and other dairy products, c) to work with relevant authorities and stakeholders in developing food safety, hygiene and quality standards and ensuring self regulation of the dairy sector, d) to lobby relevant authorities and other stakeholders on Issues concerning the dairy industry, d) to work in collaboration with relevant government ministries, development partners and other stakeholders in jointly developing the dairy sector, e) to ensure the financial sustainability and accountability of DAZ in order to meet members’ needs and d) to be the official mouthpiece of the dairy industry In Zambia. The target group is not less than 50 affiliated dairy cooperatives with 6 000 individual members.
