Summary

The project is to consolidate a self-managed social housing model among organised groups of poor women and men. The project supports training of cooperative members and other social organisations to address housing problems and to strengthen public policy and the consolidation of a social movement for Housing, Legislation and Policies in benefit of social housing. The expected results are: 1) To promote and encourage the model of self-management housing cooperatives, mutual help and collective ownership in rural areas. 2) To improve community conditions in cooperative housing and habitat models. 3) To submit proposals for resolving the problems of land, finance, housing and legal frameworks for cooperatives. At the end of the project is expected to have created 8 new housing cooperatives for self-management and cooperative property and have presented and negotiated at least 4 demands to public instances.

Project Objectives

Strengthen the organisational model of cooperative and community self-management with families of scarce economic resources in urban and rural areas, through advocacy actions to resolve the problems of land, financing, housing and legal frameworks for cooperatives.
