Summary
The main goal is to support the transformation of the Vietnamese co-operative sector to improve the gender-equitable economic conditions of women and men farmers by building more sustainable, gender-equitable, competitive and market-oriented co-operative enterprises in targeted value chains and by improving a more gender-equitable and enabling environment for co-operative enterprises and networks (federations). To achieve this main goal, the VCED project will: 1) Establish and strengthen sustainable agriculture co-operative enterprises in strategic value chains within the Vietnamese economy to become reference scale-up models. These value chains will be the dairy and fruit sectors, based on consultations conducted with various stakeholders. 2) Improve productivity and quality of agriculture production in a sustainable manner at the farm (household W/M) level, with value added. 3) Support the government and stakeholders of the co-operative sector in the establishment of an enabling environment for co-operative development and create a national strategy for replicability and scaling up of co-operative model enterprises in strategic value chains.
