Summary
The ALIZÉ program (Women’s Adaptation and Leadership for a Sustainable Impact in Ecological and Equitable Rural Areas) is an innovative five-year (60-month) results-based financing initiative (RBF), led by Socodevi, that seeks to address the urgent challenges of climate change (CC) in different vulnerable regions of Colombia.
Based on the achievements attained in AGROEMPRENDE CACAO, the ALIZÉ program plans to operate in key and highly vulnerable regions such as Cesar, Putumayo, Meta, and Magdalena Medio. However, ALIZÉ’s operations in these or other identified regions will depend on the actual co-financing opportunities available.
ALIZÉ recognizes the Cocoa Agroforestry System (AFS) not only as a climate change-adapted productive strategy, but also as a multifunctional system that generates multiple environmental, social, and economic benefits that positively respond to climate change. Through this approach, the program has the potential to significantly improve the quality of life of participating families, contributing to a stronger and more sustainable future.
One of the most innovative aspects of ALIZÉ is the co-financing provided by the Government of Canada, channeled through a Contribution Agreement signed between the parties. According to this agreement, the Canadian contribution will be made based on the results achieved by Socodevi during the implementation phase. This modality requires a robust methodology for measuring indicators, thereby ensuring that both Socodevi and the Government of Canada have reliable information on the level of progress and the achievement of expected results.
